As a student of my Bible who loves to meditate on God’s word all the time, a thought came to my mind which i’ve been pondering on, it is a question and I’ve been trusting the Holy Spirit, the greatest Teacher to give me the answer but I also want to throw out the question so that people of God can give me their answers by sharing their thoughts with me on the subject. I need your answer please.

The Bible says; “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15 NKJV

I want you to read it in other versions of the Bible:

“On the cross, Christ won the fight against all the bad spirits that have authority. He beat them completely. He took all their weapons away from them. He showed everyone that he is the ruler over all these other powerful spirits.” (EasyEnglish)

“And the hostile princes and rulers He shook off from Himself, and boldly displayed them as His conquests, when by the Cross He triumphed over them.” (Weymouth)

Colossians 2:15 (MESSAGE BIBLE) “He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.”

It means all the principalities and powers with the devil as their leader were spoilt, disarmed, and made public spectacle of them, that is, He subjected them to open disgrace by His cross.

My Question now is this: “why did Jesus only disarmed the devil and all principalities and powers and also put them in open shame without killing them but instead allowed them continue to live? Why didn’t He kill the devil and all his angels once and for all, I think this would have given us rest from the enemies and all evil assaults? We would have been free from the devil and all his agents and evil would have ceased to exist on earth had Jesus destroyed the devil completely by kiling him, there wouldn’t have been people to work for him any more since he wouldn’t be in existence to give them instructions and also empower them.

When the devil came to tempt Him (Jesus), He didn’t kill him even though He had the power to kill but instead allowed the devil finish all his temptations before commanding him to depart from Him. Why didn’t Jesus who is All-powerful kill all the evil men that were against Him when He walked the earth? Why did He allowed them to continue to live when He had all the power?

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,  far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. Ephesians 1:15‭-‬21 NKJV

God is all powerful, but why has He not killed the devil and stop evil completely? Why is He allowing His enemies continue to live? Why is God still good to all the evil men who are on earth knowing fully well that they are against Him and the expansion of  His Kingdom on earth? Why is He giving rain to those He knows have chosen idols over Him? Why are they still alive?
