On June 28, 2015, Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Aboyewa shared their testimony: 27 years of barrenness destroyed, and with twins! Indeed “…There is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.”

They believed God for the fruit of the womb for 27 years.

Undeterred by the seemingly irreversible course of nature and medical verdicts of experts, they trusted in the Lord and in the end, it answered because they fainted not.

This couple who got married in 1986 spoke with FT News recently, revealing the covenant steps they took, what their staying power was, how they handled naysayers and

mockers, how the 51-year-old woman frustrated signs of menopause, among other issues that culminated in the delivery of the miracle.

IF WE KNEW THIS CHURCH BEFORE NOW, WE WOULDN’T HAVE STAYED THIS LONG

The Aboyewas joined this commission in the year 2000 on the invitation of a colleague and they got hooked spiritually. “We fell in love with the church and then decided to join the commission and while we were here, God enriched us so, we just believed that the reason we came would surely come to pass one day. I used to tell people that if I had known this church before now, I wouldn’t have stayed this long.”
One covenant step they took was bearing the burden of others according to Gal.6:2. “However in the course of waiting, we prayed for people and they received their blessing and I was always truly happy with people and somehow, I believed that my breakthrough would come.”

I REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE SIGNS OF MENOPAUSE…
In what could be termed, “I lived by faith and not by what I see,” Mrs. Edith Aboyewa ignored signs of menopause. “I had them at the age of 51 but at age 48/49, signs of menopause had started but I prayerfully refused to acknowledge it and any time I prayed, it would come flowing and I said to myself, until I have my babies I will not stop experiencing my normal flow and God was faithful. And thank God for my husband apart from being a husband, we were friends so we always encouraged each other.”

AND LAST SHILOH BECAME OUR OWN SHILOH
“We have been attending many Shiloh but this last one, we said to God, you have blessed us; bless us with the fruit of the womb before people will start saying I used my womb for money-making rituals.  I resigned from my banking job because money is really not everything. A Redeemed Pastor once asked me, have you seen your Bishop and I said ‘I see him everyday’. I was touched because it was kind of challenging my bishop and the last day I worked at my office, as I was leaving, I said Lord let the testimony that they will hear be that I have given birth and to God be the glory I conceived and gave birth to twins – a boy and a girl.

HOW WE FENDED OFF NEGATIVE PEOPLE
“I’m a very strong-willed person; if I’m talking to you now and you say something negative, I will just get up and leave you there.  Twice or thrice my mother disowned me, before she gave her life to Christ, because I refused to follow her way, but she came around and gave her life to Christ. As Papa would always say, ‘friendship is not by force’. If you prayed with us and believed God with us, you would be our friend, but once you exhibit any negativity, we just cut you off. You can’t take me to court for refusing to be your friend.”

THE TESTIMONIES THAT MINISTERED TO US AND SOME COVENANT STEPS
“A lot of people do not get the message that we receive in this church and testimonies from the altar also encouraged us.  For instance, the testimony of that woman who got hers after 40 years of marriage and there was one of 28 years and there was another one that did not know she was pregnant until the day she gave birth. These three testimonies were our prayer points and Papa would always say, blood does not mean pregnancy so, we held on to that.”

ADVICE FOR WOMEN

“I watched films that portrayed people believing God for issues. And even when the signs of menopause were there, I didn’t even mention it to my husband; I refused to acknowledge it. It wasn’t easy but just I held on to God. We picked something from Mama’s book “God is too faithful to fail and there is no closed case with God” so we kept holding on to that and we started giving offerings on behalf of the children. Just start acting like you are pregnant, you have to exercise your faith. When I went for my first scan, the doctor said he was seeing two girls but I said you are wrong you are seeing a boy and a girl because that was what I asked from God and as God would have it, the doctor was also a believer.”

‘TAKING ANOTHER WIFE? GOD FORBIDS!’ MR. ABOYEWA SPEAKS
“During this period, we would go to one doctor and he would say the problem is with my wife and another doctor would tell us a different thing, saying the problem was from me. So we just decided to settle with God. I had a very close friend who took another wife as a result of childlessness, I just cut him off. God forbid! Never! That thought never crossed my heart.”

PAPA’S DECLARATION

“I can tell you this; those children will grow and be mighty.” Those were the words of Bishop David Oyedepo and we can’t help but thunder an AMEN!
