How a growing worship leader can prepare to lead a praise & worship session for a church service/event.

Offering of praise & worship to God, we are expected to give our best at all times. Don’t minister based on the number of your audience if they are many or few, don’t display sentimentalism by segregating your impute to any service.

Consider your praise and worship sessions as very important as your special ministration session (special number)

Some people rehearsal for hours when practicing to perfect their Special ministration song (special number) BUT spend less or no time at all on Practicing and perfecting their praise and worship songs…

The aim of our worship session is to usher / take / lead the audience into God’s presence and let your target be to actualize this goal during your praise and worship session.

Generally, offering the best starts from your focus and your preparation.

God should always be your focus, not man.
Let God be the focus of your desire for giving your best, not impressing people because this is where a lot of singers miss it. Some of the observations I have made in most of our services, the singers only mind what the pastor will feel or say and not what God truly wants for that session so their focus is always on the pastor or a particular individual they want to please and not God.

Please HODs, let’s help our members to understand their primary goal for every service. God first, God Last and God in-between… It’s all about Him and all to Him.

For your preparation before leading.

1: Commune with The Holy Spirit:

Leading praise and worship is a spiritual assignment, and to successfully executive or complete any spiritual assignment, you cannot do without your no.1 Spiritual guide and helper, the Holy Spirit.

Before you start putting any songs together, ask the Holy Spirit to help you with the right songs. He knows the mind of God, as well as the hearts and circumstances of the people that will be present at the meeting.

He is the one that can truly help everyone to focus on Jesus Christ during the praise/worship, and also minister to people’s needs. Ask for more inspiration, revelation and understanding. You would do well to pray in tongues also, for as long as you want, because that will help greatly.

And that’s why I love what Dunsin Oyekan said, he said we don’t sing songs, but we sing Revelation. As a minister, you should be singing revelation and solutions, and healing, and deliverance, and life, and impartation….. I just hope am speaking to someone who understand what I am saying…

2: Spend Time In Prayers:

Pray, pray, pray!!! Pray and pray without ceasing. You need to engage the help of the Holy Spirit.

With prayer you engage the help of the Holy Spirit to put in order all that you can’t and even make better the things you have prepared. Pray to take charge of the atmosphere, pray to soften then people’s heart to receive every package God has for them in your ministration.

Pray not just for yourself, but also for everyone else involved; backup singers, instrumentalists, sound and technical crew, multimedia crew and the congregation.

Pray against distractions and pray for unity of purpose among your worship team, sound crew and multimedia crew, because you’re all leading the congregation together.

Faults with singing arrangements, sound or multimedia screens can distract members of the congregation and you don’t want that, so pray.

I’ve seen many worship leaders who rehearse well but don’t pray well enough, so they end up putting up a good charismatic performance but fail to minister life. So it’s more of an entertaining session instead of a life-giving encounter with the Holy Spirit. So pray!!!

3: Practice and Practice and Practice:

Practice makes things easy, even if it may not be perfect yet.
The above two factors of *communing* and *prayer* help to amplify your anointing status While this factor of *Practice* amplifies your skill and fine tune you for the best. In touching the world, you don’t need anointing only. Perfect your skills and make sacrifices to meet this target. Money and Time are the basic sacrificial levels you cannot do without for personal development in this work.

In this work like I will always say, you don’t need anointing alone. Both Anointing and Skills, these makes you a balance Minister.

Can we have worshippers in our churches today who will apply this truth and make God a peoud father???

4: Soul Conscious mindset:

When last have you as a singer gone out on purpose to win souls? As hard as this may sound it’s the gospel truth that and the foundation to whatever level of ministerial manifestation we anticipate;

Whatever power you need and those dimensions where healing, miracles and supernatural manifestations will happen when you pick the mick, the secrets will never be anything other than your soul consciousness which is your work of personal evangelism.

Prayer has its place Sir, but Soul winning is the door opener to that power you need. In this subject of Soul winning, we don’t talk too much, we only encourage you to go and practicalize then comw.back and let’s hear your testimony😊😊

Will talk more about this in another day..
