ANCHOR SCRIPTURE(S): 2 TIMOTHY 2:1-2
MESSAGE TOPIC: THE PREPARATION OF THE SOUL-WINNER

SERVICE OBJECTIVE(S): Understanding preparations for successful evangelism.
THINGS TO NOTE:
1. Soul winning or evangelism is every believer’s calling (Matt. 28:18-20; Mark 16:16-17)
Not every believer is called to be an evangelist but every believer is called to evangelize
2. Good performance is the product of good preparation (2 Tim. 2:15)
Powerful preparation prevents poor performance
WHAT PREPARES A CHRISTIAN FOR THE RESPONSIBILITY OF SOUL WINNING?
1. Passion for God (Ex. 20:5-6; Deut. 5:10; 11:1; John 14:15; 1 John 5:2-3; John 21:15; 2 Pet. 3:9; Luke 15:7-8; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22)
1a. To Love God is to keep His commandments (Ex. 20:5-6; Deut. 5:10; 11:1; John 14:15; 1 John 5:2-3)
1b. To Love God is to take care of His concerns (John 21:15; 2 Pet. 3:9)
1c. To Love God is to do that which gives Him pleasure (Luke 15:7-8; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22)
2. Love for souls/ love for people (John 3:16; Rom. 8:32; John 15:13; Gal. 1:3-4; 1 Tim. 2:6; 1 Cor. 9:16; 2 Cor. 5:14)
Everyone not saved is going to hell unless they are intercepted
2a. Love for people made God to send His Only Begotten Son to die for the world (John 3:16; Rom. 8:32)
2b. Love for people made Jesus to lay down His life for the world (John 15:13; Gal. 1:3-4; 1 Tim. 2:6)
2c. Love for people made Paul the apostle literally curse himself (1 Cor. 9:16; 2 Cor. 5:14)
When you love people you are compelled, propelled and driven
We make sense on time because we don’t have eternity to fulfil destiny
3. Living for the Kingdom (Phil. 1:21; 2 Cor. 5:15; Matt. 6:33)
Life is not fit to be lived if it is not lived for Christ
Living for God is living for good, living for self is a life wasted forever
Jesus died for us so that we can live for Him (2 Cor. 5:15)
CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE AS FAR AS LIFE IS CONCERNED:
3a. Those who live for the devil (John 10:10)
These are agents of the devil – satanic demonic people trading in human spare parts; bandits, terrorists, kidnappers.
These are people sold out to the devil, they serve the devil boldly and with impunity
3b. Those who live for themselves
These are people focused on themselves and the things of the earth solely
They have no eternal consciousness
Eternity, Kingdom and souls are of no interest to them
3c. Those who live for the Kingdom (Phil. 1:21; Matt. 6:33)
Their lives revolve around God and the Kingdom; their target is Kingdom enlargement and expansion
If they are making money or have influence over people, they have Kingdom at the back of their mind.
Don’t just make money like unbeliever money-makers, let Kingdom be central to it
How many people have you been able to direct to the Kingdom in your office as a director?
Living for God means that everything you do has Kingdom consideration
When you live for self you live at a loss, but when you live for God you live for gain, both in this life and in the life to come
It is what you do for Heaven that will wait for you when you step out of time into eternity
4. The influence of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8; 2 Tim. 1:6-7; Rom. 5:5)
Walking with the Spirit of God and praying in the Spirit are very critical for soul winning
4a. The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for God
4b. The Holy Spirit imparts us with the boldness to function in life (2 Tim. 1:6-7)
When you carry the real Spirit of God, audacity is there.
4c. The Holy Spirit sheds abroad the love of God in our hearts (2 Tim. 1:7; Rom. 5:5)
Love for God and love for people is made to flood our hearts
PRAYERS
Father, thank You for Your Word to us tonight. To You be all the glory Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
Father, the love and burden You felt for the world that made you to send Your Son to die for the world, place a little measure of it in my heart Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Father, I come before You tonight and I ask that You place in my heart fresh passion for You and fresh passion for souls; Father, what You felt for human beings that made You to send Your Son to die for the world, place a little of it in my heart. Father, I receive the grace to live for You. Holy Spirit, take Your place in my life and empower me for soul winning; take Your place now, in Jesus’ Name.
COMMUNION FOCUS:
– Communion of the passion and the compassion that led the Master to the Cross
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS:
– Anybody trying to toy with your destiny will be smashed by God!
– I don’t know what case is against you or how long it has lasted but today, God is declaring the case in your favour!
– Everything the devil is using to fight your destiny, today, it is over forever!
– Anything that is a distraction in your life that is not allowing you to serve God the way you should, that distraction is dissolved in Jesus’ Name!
– Everyone calculated for tears and sorrow by the enemy, those tears are cancelled!
