Adetokunbo Olufela (Oluwafeolami) Durotoye popularly known as Fela Durotoye rings a bell in the ears of many with just at the mention of his name, people immediately associate him with motivational speaking; he was born in Ibadan, capital  of Oyo State on 12 May 1971 to Layiwola and Adeline Durotoye, both professors at the University of Ibadan. Oluwafeolami, a Yoruba name that implies,”God has enlarged my territory”.






His journey started from Ibadan, later his family moved to Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria south-western part in the year 1972. At Ile-Ife, Fela had his primary and secondary education where he attended the Staff Children’s School between 1974 and 1981, and Moremi High School between 1981 and 1986 respectively; proceeded to the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with Economics. He later bagged a Masters degree in Business Administration (M.B.A) as well as a Master of Philosophy Degree (M.Phil) in Strategic Management. This man of integrity and honour is an alumnus of John F. Kennedy School of Government Executive Education program of Harvard University, Boston(Massachusetts).  

Fela  Durotoye is a business consultant , leadership expert, and motivational speaker who is also the president of the GEMSTONE Nation Builders Foundation – a non-profit, non-governmental organization targeted at training youths towards transformational leadership and social change.

His professional career began in 1992 as a Project Finance Analyst in Ventures and Trusts Limited where he later join Phillips Consulting Limited (PCL) in 1998, as head of the Customer Service Group at Phillips Consulting; Fela designed and facilitated several customer service and personal mastery training programs and retreats. 



He did very well and rose to head the Customer Service Group.   Later founded V.I.P CONSULTING Limited in 2000 which did not take long to gain reputation as one of the leading experts in the area of Customer Management and Workforce Activation in Nigeria.

In year 2007, V.I.P Consulting limited was transformed to Visible Impact Limited which successfully turned what used to be a management consulting firm into a social enterprise. However, this transformation or rebranding of the company added to its existing Consulting group; four other divisional groups comprising the Project Management group, the Multimedia group as well as the Investment Management and Foundation groups added colour to the new Visible Impact corporate structure.

Fela Durotoye is now a season speaker on Business Strategist and as over decade controls industry experience in the facilitation of Management Retreats across financial banking system, multinational & indigenous firms, a unique command of inspirational leadership that enables even the most successful executives aspire to greater things beyond their perceived boundaries of possibilities. His clients in the Banking & Investment sector include Access Bank, GTBank, First Bank, Zenith Bank, First City Monument Bank, Diamond Bank, Fidelity Bank, United Bank for Africa, Skye Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, ARM Investment Management, Vetiva Asset and Management Ltd, Cordros Capital. Also his clients in the Oil and Gas sector include Shell Petroleum Development Corporation, Oando, Total, Addaxx Petroleum, Masters Energy, Bell Oil and Gas and Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Company NLNG. He has also gain ground in the telecommunications sector where his clients include Airtel, MTN, Etisalat and Multichoice Nigeria.

The Manufacturing and FMCG space is not left out where his clients include, Peugeot Automobiles, Printserve, Lafarge, Procter and Gamble, Unilever, Nestle, Sanofi Aventis and Pfizer. However in the multilateral and public sectors, his clients include Eko Electricity Development Company (EKEDC), Benin Electricity Development Company (BEDC), African Finance Corporation, The European Union (EU Nigeria office), The Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS) as well as the state governments of Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Rivers, Ondo and Ekiti. 

He is also a board member of several companies in our dear country, Nigeria.

In December 2009, as part of his initiative to touch his environment championed the then urban renewal project “Mushin Makeover” that involved the likes of Banky W, Alibaba, Kate Henshaw , Omoni Oboli , Teju Babyface , Sound Sultan , TY Bello , Dj Jimmy Jatt , Omawunmi, Denrele, Dele Momodu , Tosin Bucknor, Stella Damascus, Tee A, Segun Dangote, Ebuka Obi among others; calling for donations of paints for the project. The young professionals donated free paint and were on hand to paint,he mobilized over 2,000 volunteers to paint 296 houses across 7 streets of the Mushin suburb of Lagos at no charge to the owners and resident of the buildings. The project  in turns allowed over 100 unemployed youths to be trained by Berger Paints PLC in Art & Technique of Painting;a source of living for the youths as they began to earn as painters.

Fela currently lectures Ethical Leadership at Stanford University Seed Program to CEO’s of businesses with operations across Africa and also the present chairman of the boards of Directors of some of Nigeria’s leading companies which include House Of Tara International, a leading beauty company in Nigeria with over 4,000 beauty representatives, 22 beauty studios and 12 make-up schools; Homebase Mortgage Bank Limited, a foremost mortgage institution led by Mr. Femi Johnson who is also the president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Nigeria; I-ASPIRE Media, Operators of Nigeria’s premier inspiration and leadership radio, and ORBRA ICT, manufacturers of cutting edge smartphones, tablets, smart devices and accessories; he’s also on the advisory board of Nigeria Canada Forum (NCF) based in Regina Canada.

In 2015, Fela Durotoye completed the Executive Seminar program on Strategy, Innovation & Governance with specific focus on Sustainability for NGOs and Corporate Organizations at Lagos Business School (LBS), Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria and also attended High impact Leadership for a better society Program at the world class Yale University, New Haven (Connecticut) and The Leadership Institute, Arlington (Virginia) all in the United States of America respectively; also bagged  certified leadership coach of the John Maxwell Team and completed the supernumerary police training program at the Nigerian Police Training College situated in Ikeja,lagos. He received the Distinguished Student Award at his graduation and passing out parade.

However in 2018, Durotoye gave a speech to over 200 entrepreneurs at the inaugural Nigerian American Business Forum in Tampa Florida, where he shared the podium with senior senator Mohammed Shaaba Lafiagi , and some other reputable leaders across our dear and great country.

In the year 2018, he want to make another wave in the field of politics as he made his intention known on February 22  to run for Presidency in the Nigerian general election, 2019 under the political party Alliance for New Nigeria.

He is married to Tara Fela-Durotoye ,one of the Nigerian’s celebrated make-up artist,a beauty entrepreneur, lawyer and CEO of House of Tara. The union blessed with three sons — Mobolurin, Demilade & Morolaoluwa. Fela Durotoye is a Christian, together with his whole family.

Fela Durotoye Net Worth is currently $1.7million but it is believed he is very well to do, seeing that he has greatly risen grass to Grace. 

He is one of the most influential Nigerian across the world that is impacting the world and advancing the life of Humanity.
