DUNAMIS INTERNATIONAL GOSPEL CENTRE

Dunamis International Gospel Centre is a dynamic Pentecostal Christian Centre founded on 10th November, 1996 by Pastor Dr. Paul Enenche in the city of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.

The founding of Dunamis International Gospel Centre was by God’s directive following a 3-day fast by Dr. Paul Enenche and his then nursing wife Dr. Mrs. Becky Paul-Enenche.

On 28th May, 1996, Dr. Paul Enenche, then a young Medical Doctor in Jos, Plateau State, North-Central Nigeria was on crossroads whether to relocate to London or to remain in Nigeria and continue his practice as a physician. Being restless and indecisive, he decided to journey to the mountain in the outskirts of Jos City on a 3-day prayer fast. At the end of the fast, he came back with a clear vision of what he was to do with his life which was to set aside his medical certificate and move to the City of Abuja to start a Gospel outreach which would be characterized by a heavy presence of God to heal, save and deliver people and restore human destiny and dignity.

This Word was further confirmed to Dr. Paul Enenche as God had told his nursing wife, Dr. Mrs. Becky Paul-Enenche who was also fasting and praying at home, exactly the same thing. This encounter in May 1996 is the reason behind the annual Destiny Recovery Convention hosted by Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

After this encounter in May 1996, six months later, Dr. Paul and Dr. Mrs. Becky Paul-Enenche left Jos for Abuja in full obedience to God without knowing anyone there.

The first Sunday Service was held at Abuja Centre for Arts and Culture, first floor, Area 10, Abuja with 53 people in attendance. Services were held there for two weeks before they moved to Sheraton Hotel and Towers where they worshipped for 6 months. In June 1997, they moved to their former headquarters located at Area 1 (Old Federal Secretariat), Abuja. Area 1 was known largely as a dumpsite and hideout for criminals, hoodlums and drug peddlers at the time. One day, an Usher in Dunamis was stabbed on his way to a Church service and Pastor Enenche stepped out with a few ministers and cursed the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

In a matter of days, a fight ensued among the hoodlums causing them to kill themselves. They were soon rounded up by the Police and their dominance of the area ended.

To further aid the Police in securing the area, Dunamis gifted a patrol vehicle to them and a gave a second one when the first truck became rickety.

Dunamis International Gospel Centre experienced a massive growth after a bird fell from the sky and landed in one of the Dunamis Overflow Sections during one of her services and shockingly transformed into a human being – a lady in front of the worshippers.

The lady was ministered to, brought to the fore of the Church and led to Christ. She was asked to come the following day and according to eye witnesses, she looked a lot better than she did he previous day. The news soon spread by witnesses propelled a massive influx of members and souls. The Church expanded to a seating capacity of 30,000 (including overflows) and five sunday services over the years.

This was later increased to six Sunday services in 2015 following God’s instruction.

With the increasing number and rapid growth of souls at the headquarters, the need for a bigger Church auditorium became increasingly important.

According to Dr. Pastor Paul Enenche, after being beaten by rain at the National Stadium, Abuja during one of their monthly Worship, Word and Wonders Night vigils, God told him that they will build their own stadium with a roof. This Word birthed the construction of the Glory Dome.

The Glory Dome, a 100,000-capacity auditorium, reported to be the largest Church auditorium in the world as at today (3rd February, 2024) had its groundbreaking done on 14th September, 2014 by Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church. Located along Airport Road, Lugbe, Abuja it sits on 100-hectares of land owned by the Church known as the The Lord’s Garden. The Glory Dome described as a structural engineering wonder was built without any pillar with the dome placed about 43 metres from the floor level which is about the height of a 13-storey building.

The Glory Dome was dedicated on Saturday, 24th November 2018, roughly 4 years after its groundbreaking during the annual Kingdom Power and Glory World Conference. Pastor E. A. Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Bishop David Oyedepo among other ministers were notably present. The former President of the Federal Republican of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, then Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo were among notable dignitaries present at the dedication.

In addition to the Glory Dome sitting at The Lord’s Garden, Destiny Christian Academy and College and Dunamis School of Ministry also have their headquarters there.

Also, according to the Senior Pastor, Dr. Paul Enenche, there are plans to build a world-class Medical University, a beach, a 7-storey 5-star hotel, a shopping mall and two 7-storey office towers as they already have their designs approved.
